What to wear on the wards and in the lab
Most students and staff need three things: scrubs for clinical days, a jacket or coat for practicals and cold mornings, and a way to show your name. Here is how the sections of this range fit together.
The range at a glance
Which scrubs should I start with?
WiZ Scrubs come in two ranges, both made in South Africa. Basic 2.0 is the entry-level, unisex set in lightweight AIRWEAVE polyester, with a phone pocket, double pen pocket and a choice of jogger or open-hem pants. It runs from XXS to 5XL in 11 colours. Comfort 2.0 is the step up: a softer polyester-spandex stretch fabric, with separate fitted cuts for men and women and straight-leg pants with a thigh cargo pocket. If you are new to clinical work or your faculty sets a colour, Basic is the usual first buy. If you are on your feet for long shifts and want more stretch, look at Comfort.
How many sets do I need?
One set rarely lasts a week of placements. Two lets you wear one while the other is in the wash, and five covers every weekday. Our Pair Pack, Starter Three and Week Pack bundles let you pick the size and colour of every top and pair of pants separately, so you can mix colours or take a different size top and bottom.
Do I need a doctor's jacket, a softshell or an underscrub?
They do different jobs. The WiZmed Doctor's Jacket is a polycotton lab coat for anatomy and lab practicals, skills sessions and community visits. It is made to order, so order a few weeks before your first practical. The softshell Comfort Jacket is a warm, wind-resistant layer to wear over scrubs between buildings or on cold night shifts. A long-sleeve underscrub goes under your scrub top for warmth and arm cover, and the sleeves push up past the elbow when you need to wash.
Name badges, pins and caps
An engraved WiZ Badge shows your name and role clearly to patients, with a magnetic backing that leaves no holes in your scrubs or a traditional pin. WiZpins are enamel lapel pins in 13 designs for a coat, scrub top or bag. For theatre, the WiZ scrub caps are made to match WiZ Scrubs, and the Pro cap has room for braids, locs or a bun. How do I choose the right size?
Measure before you order rather than going by the size you wear in another brand. The Basic chart lists garment measurements, so compare it with a scrub top that already fits you well. The Comfort 2.0 charts use body measurements. If you sit between two sizes, size up for a relaxed fit or down for a closer one. Our scrubs size guide walks through each measurement.

Where are WiZ Scrubs made?
Both the Basic 2.0 and Comfort 2.0 ranges are made in South Africa. The long-sleeve underscrubs and softshell Comfort Jackets are also made locally.
Do you have plus-size scrubs?
Yes. Basic 2.0 tops and pants run from XXS to 5XL. Comfort 2.0 tops, the long-sleeve underscrubs and the Doctor's Jacket go up to 4XL. Check the size chart on each product, as the fit differs between ranges.
What should a first-year medical or nursing student buy?
Usually two Basic 2.0 scrub sets, an engraved name badge and, if your course has anatomy or lab practicals, a Doctor's Jacket. Order the jacket early because it is made to order.
Can I collect my order in Cape Town?
Yes. Collection in Cape Town is free, Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00. We also deliver nationwide from Cape Town.
Can I mix sizes in a scrub set?
Yes. In the multi-set packs you choose the size and colour of every top and pair of pants separately, so a different size top and bottom is no problem.
