Buying guide
Basic 2.0 or Comfort 2.0: which scrubs suit you?
Both ranges are made in South Africa and both are built for long days on the ward. The difference is in the fabric, the fit and how much you want to spend.
The range at a glance
What is the difference between Basic 2.0 and Comfort 2.0?
Basic 2.0 is made from AIRWEAVE, a lightweight 100% polyester weave with natural mechanical stretch but no elastane. It has a regular unisex fit, a phone pocket and a double pen pocket, and the pants come with a jogger cuff or an open hem. Comfort 2.0 uses a softer 95/5 polyester-spandex fabric with four-way stretch. The tops are cut separately for men and women in a fitted shape, and the straight-leg pants have a thigh cargo pocket with phone and pen slots. Basic is the entry-level choice; Comfort is the mid-range upgrade for people who want more stretch and a closer fit.
Which scrubs are good for medical and nursing students?
Most students start with Basic 2.0. It covers the widest size range, XXS to 5XL, in 11 colours, and the unisex fit suits most body shapes. You can buy the top and pants separately if you need a different size in each. If you already know you prefer a fitted cut, the Comfort 2.0 women's and men's sets are a good first buy too.
How much do scrubs cost, and how do packs work?
A single Basic 2.0 set is our entry-level option, and buying several sets together brings the cost per set down. The Pair Pack has two sets, the Starter Three three, and the Week Pack five, one for every weekday. Comfort 2.0 comes in a Three-Pack and a Week Pack for men and for women. In every pack you choose the size and colour of each piece separately.
How do I choose a scrubs size?
Measure your chest, waist and hips with a soft tape. The Basic chart gives garment measurements, so the easiest check is to lay a top that fits you well flat and compare. If you are at the top of a range, size up. The Comfort 2.0 charts give body measurements; between sizes, size up for a relaxed fit or down for a closer fit. Comfort 2.0 pants have a 74 cm inleg across the size range, so check the length if you are tall.
Keeping warm on cold shifts
For early ward rounds and Cape winters, layer a long-sleeve cotton underscrub under your top and a softshell Comfort Jacket over it. The Winter Warmer bundles put a scrub set, the jacket and an underscrub together, in Basic or Comfort.
Questions we get asked
Before you buy
Which is the best scrubs fabric for hot wards?
Basic 2.0's AIRWEAVE polyester is lightweight and quick-drying, and was designed to stay cool in warm conditions while staying opaque. Comfort 2.0 is softer with more stretch. Both are wrinkle-resistant, so neither needs ironing.
Are WiZ Scrubs unisex?
Basic 2.0 tops and pants are unisex with a regular fit. Comfort 2.0 has separate fitted tops for men and women, with unisex straight-leg pants.
Do you make plus-size scrubs?
Basic 2.0 runs from XXS to 5XL. Comfort 2.0 tops go from XS to 4XL. Check the size chart for each range, because Basic is a regular fit and Comfort is fitted.
How should I wash my scrubs?
For Comfort 2.0, wash cold and inside-out and tumble dry on low. Both ranges are wrinkle-resistant, so they come out of the wash ready to wear.
What is the UCT Scrub Run edition?
