Buying guide
Which Eko digital stethoscope is right for you?
Eko makes three ways to go digital. The choice comes down to whether you want ECG, a hybrid you can use without a battery, or to keep the stethoscope you already own.
CORE 500 or CORE 300?
The CORE 500 is Eko's flagship: up to 40x amplification with active noise cancellation, a 3-lead ECG recorded while you listen, and a full-colour display on the chestpiece. It runs about 60 hours of regular clinical use per charge and comes in twelve colours. The CORE 300 is a hybrid: a normal acoustic stethoscope that needs no battery, with a twist of the chestpiece switching it to digital listening at up to 35x amplification. It has a simpler monochrome display and lasts up to 120 hours per charge. Both pair with the free Eko App for waveform visualisation, wireless listening and recording, and exams export as PDF and WAV.
Keep your own stethoscope
The CORE Digital Attachment fits in-line between the tubing and chestpiece of most popular acoustic stethoscopes, including Littmann Cardiology and Classic models. It adds up to 40x amplification, noise cancellation and Bluetooth, with one-click switching back to analogue. Adult and paediatric adaptors are included, and it charges by micro-USB.
Questions we get asked
Before you buy
Is the Eko CORE 500 the same as the Littmann CORE?
No, they are made by different companies. The Eko CORE 500 records a 3-lead ECG alongside heart sounds and shows the trace on its own display. If you would rather keep an acoustic Littmann Classic or Cardiology, the Eko CORE Digital Attachment adds digital listening to it.
Do I need the app?
No. Eko stethoscopes work on their own. The free Eko App adds waveform visualisation, wireless listening and recording, and an Eko+ membership unlocks AI murmur detection and saved exams. A 14-day trial is included.
Does the CORE 300 work when the battery is flat?
Yes. In analogue mode it works as an ordinary acoustic stethoscope, so a flat battery only switches off the digital features.
